Soft chiaroscuro light for portraits

One large Rotalux softbox was placed at my left. The model was sitting just at the edge of the softbox, that was almost level at his height. Behind the model was a gridded Rotalux, angled high above yet close. Both Rotalux were 90x100cm

I set the gridded softbox to the maximum power and the naked one to the minimum (respectively 5 and 1). With the scheme above, I used a Canon EOS 5D and  a 70-200mm f/4L IS zoom lens to photograph Francesco.

The tattoo was applied with Photoshop
