You have a model in your studio: he wants a quick portrait. Quick, here, does not only mean rapid to set-up, but also tolerant enough to his not-so-perfect positioning. A coloured background, moreover, does not necessarily require a separate light.
So this is what I did: a beauty-dish (with central reflector) in front of him and about 2.5m high, plus a large softbox placed low (about 0.5m from the floor), again central. Simple set-up and simple result, that creates a pleasant shadow on the background itself.
